Hope everyone has a safe and happy fourth of July! According to these Victorian postcards, you should probably be involved in the setting off of extremely dangerous looking, Acme-Company-and-Wil.-E.-Coyote type explosives, but I must disagree. Practice good judgement and choose something a little less drastic from that Big Daddy's fireworks tent just outside the county line! All these cards (and more!) are available on ebay, click on the sources to find the original listings. Peace out! I gotta go wear some Uncle Sam theme'd gear and hang out with an eagle, while barbecuing! It is the only way! :)
i love the one of the girl grasping on to the firework! so cute. i'm heading off to work. such a bummer. i LOVe the fourth!
ReplyDeleteRight?! I wasn't going to do anything today (or I was going to post that guy who does the hand-noises to "The Star Spangled Banner" on Johnny Carson) and then I ebay'd "WWI patriotic" and saw these cuties! Hope work wasnt too bad and you're still getting to show your stars and stripes ce soir! :)
DeleteAhhh! These images are too cute! Thank you for sharing them. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you're having a great 4th!
Erica
Thanks, lady! :)
DeleteThese are all lovely, but I like the first one best, I think - love the simplicity but effectiveness of it.
ReplyDeleteHope you and your eagle are enjoying the fruits of your barbequeing...
I just love the whole idea of "I'll be YOUR firework", or, say, if it was Halloween, "I'm YOUR candy corn!". It's so cute. Man, it was real hot, but I think the eagle and i can be proud of the charcoal'd meals we created today... (j/k...but wouldn't it be kind of cool to hang out with an eagle, Royal Tennebaum's Mordecai style?)
DeleteHow did I not know 4th of July postcards existed?! So neat!
ReplyDeleteDude, ebay that mess! So neat! I can't believe half the awesome vintage things I innocently find when I search terms one thing or the other... :) Happy fourth!
