Everybody keeps asking me about the basement, which I think is a hoot-- I LOOOVE Pee Wee's Big Adventure. The first thing I did when I got to Texas was to call my dad and do the thing from the phone booth with "Deep in the Heart of Texas"...but Matthew had to stand in for the people of Texas's reply because I was bashful. SO. FUN. I WANT TO LIVE THERE.Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16842611749073935723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1978925481748522797.post-47896125675561019172013-04-01T21:39:28.209-05:002013-04-01T21:39:28.209-05:00You guys are ADORABLE. San Antonio is my favorite, favorite city in the whole entire US of A. I am so happy that you got to go, and I am also very pleased that you enjoyed the Alamo so much! It really is great, although I agree that it is a bit disconcerting that it is right there in the midst of downtown, hemmed in by buildings and touristy stuff. And the coonskin cap? EPIC. My parents literally live about a 5 minute drive from his birthplace and my grandfather several 'greats' back on my dad's side had a mill with Davy's father before he bought Crockett Tavern...Davy even mentions him in his autobiography! Plus, there's a very good chance that I'm related to his mother on my mother's side. Love me some Davy!!!!
I've always wanted to visit the Alamo, but never have on any of the trips I've taken to Texas. I'm determined to at some point though! Did you get to see the basement?
That hat's killer! I used to overhear people in lots of vintage shops in London asking for coonskin caps! I could have made a fortune importing those suckers! I had one when I was little that I got at his birthplace, but it disappeared years ago. I finally replaced it last fall!
Can't wait for more trip pics!Dolly the Birdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05474700945219253368noreply@blogger.com
